Established on 08.07.1961, the District and Magistrate Court of Polonnaruwa serves as a combined court handling both civil and criminal matters for the region.

First Presiding Judge (1967)

The court's recorded judicial leadership began with Hon. B.R. Silva, who served as the first presiding judge from 01.02.1967 to 31.12.1969.

Relocation and Modernization (2017)

To support growing legal needs and improve infrastructure, the court relocated to a new, modern building complex on 25.02.2017, continuing its long-standing commitment to upholding justice in the Polonnaruwa District.
